Two men have been arrested in separate police operations in Tobago for offences related to the cultivation and trafficking of cannabis and cocaine.
According to police, the operations were conducted on Thursday, August 7, by officers of the Tobago Divisional Task Force (TDTF) Area East and Area West.
In the first incident, around 9:45 pm, TDTF Area East officers visited the Cardiff Road, Pembroke home of a 42-year-old man. There, they reportedly found 42 cannabis plants growing in flowerpots, buckets, and grow bags in the yard. The plants were seized, and the suspect was taken to the Roxborough Police Station.
Earlier that day, at about 1:30 pm, TDTF Area West officers, acting on intelligence, executed an operation at John Gorman Trace, Crown Point. A search of a man at the location allegedly turned up 141 grams of dried cannabis, TT$987, a Barbados $2 bill, and a digital scale.
A further search of the premises uncovered an additional 201.37 grams of cannabis, along with cocaine in two forms – a cream-coloured rock-like substance weighing 38.31 grams and powdered cocaine weighing 83.12 grams – as well as two more digital scales. The suspect was arrested and taken to the Scarborough Police Station.
Investigations into both matters are ongoing.
