Two men were arrested and quantities of cannabis seized during coordinated anti-crime exercises carried out in the Southern and Port of Spain Divisions on Thursday.
Police said that between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m., officers conducted a roving exercise in the Southern Division, targeting areas in the west. Several known drug blocks were searched, resulting in the arrest of two 21-year-old men, both of La Romaine.
One suspect, of Ethel Street, was held for possession of 84 grammes of cannabis, while the other, of Claude Street, was arrested for possession of 74 grammes of the drug.
In a separate operation later that day, between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m., officers of the Port of Spain Division Task Force, supported by the Canine Unit, carried out exercises in the Besson Street and Belmont policing districts.
Police said multiple known drug blocks were searched, including St Barbs, Prizgar Lands, Block 22 and Springvale. During operations at Block 22 and Springvale, officers seized a total of 210 grammes of cannabis.
Investigations are continuing.
