Two Dead, One Injured in Yo Creek Motorcycle Collision

A head-on collision between two motorcycles on Yo Creek Road on Friday evening has resulted in the deaths of two young men and left a third hospitalized. The crash occurred around 6:45 p.m. near the entrance of Yo Creek Village, Orange Walk District. Police arriving at the scene discovered two severely damaged motorcycles and the bodies of 21-year-old Alexander Alfredo Reyes of San Antonio Village and 20-year-old Angel Fernando Mejia of Trial Farm Village. Both men were pronounced dead at the Northern Regional Hospital after sustaining massive injuries.  Initial investigations indicate that Reyes was driving a black Lifan motorcycle towards Orange Walk Town. At the same time, Mejia was traveling in the opposite direction on a Skygo motorcycle with 18-year-old Joshua Gomez as a passenger. The two bikes collided head-on, throwing all three individuals onto the road. Gomez survived the crash and is currently hospitalized in stable condition with a broken right leg and multiple abrasions. Police say that they are awaiting Gomez’ recovery to interview him as part of the ongoing investigation.
