Two men were shot and injured in Pomona Village yesterday evening, in what police believe was a targeted attack gone wrong. 25-year-old Orlando Acosta and a 16-year-old male minor were standing outside a business establishment at around 6:30 p.m. when two motorcycles pulled up and one of the riders produced a firearm and opened fire injuring both individuals in a midday press briefing today Assistant Superintendent Stacy Smith weighed in on the incident. Smith says that the motive is unclear and that the injured man and minor may not have been the intended target

Stacy Smith, Assistant Superintendent of Police: “Initial investigation revealed that these two persons were standing outside of a business establishment when they were approached by persons on board two motorcycles. One of the pillion rider of one of the motorcycles is reported to have produced a firearm and fired several shots resulted in the injury of those persons. A number of video footage have been retrieved and they are being reviewed as it is believed that they will assist the ongoing investigation. No motive has been established, however, we are not of the view that any of the injured individuals was the target but another individual that was in the group.”
Investigators are appealing to anyone with information that could assist in identifying the perpetrators to come forward. /
