Two men who are alleged affiliates of the George Street Gang will stand trial for the January 2021 murder of Winston James, better known as Tanga. Twenty-year-old Azzane Domingo, and 34-year-old Eustace Lewis were committed to stand trial today after the preliminary inquiry concluded in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court. They will face charges of murder and abetment to murder in the October 2025 session of the High Court. James was shot multiple times and killed on the southside of Belize City after leaving his attorney’s office. His common-law wife, Mary Beth Wade, was in the vehicle and was injured during the ambush, making her the prosecution’s main witness. During the preliminary inquiry, Chief Magistrate Deborah Rogers reviewed over 100 pages of disclosure, including more than 25 statements and documentary exhibits. Neither Domingo nor Lewis challenged the evidence. Domingo, who is unrepresented, will call four alibi witnesses at trial. Lewis, represented by attorney Ellis Arnold, will call one witness. Initially charged with the murder of Tanga, Domingo was also charged with attempted murder, use of deadly means of harm, and wounding against Wade. Meanwhile, Lewis was only charged with abetment to murder. He was granted bail while Domingo was remanded to the Belize Central Prison.
