Two Men Shot Outside PG Bar; BDF Soldier Detained

Police in Punta Gorda Town are investigating a late-night shooting that left two men injured outside JR Bar on George Price Street. The incident occurred around 11:30 last night.  Responding officers found 41-year-old Ashton Martin, a fisherman of Mahogany Street, and 25-year-old Kelly Stephens, an unemployed resident of Front Street, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Both men were immediately transported to the Punta Gorda Community Hospital for treatment and are listed in stable condition.  Police processed the scene, where thirteen (13) 9mm expended shells were recovered. Scenes of Crime personnel documented and photographed the area as part of the investigation while officers issued medico-legal forms to both victims.  Police have detained a BDF soldier as a person of interest.
