Two Mexican Nationals Killed in Fatal George Price Highway Collision

A deadly road traffic incident on the George Price Highway last night has left two Mexican men dead. LOVE FM’s Rafael Roberts was the first on the scene. Here’s the story.

Rafael Roberts, Love News: What was supposed to be a routine delivery to and from Dangriga for Irvin Ariaza took a sharp curve resulting in a fatal traffic incident claiming the lives of two men in a Nissan Versa and a toddler clinging to life after a gruesome head injury. the tragedy. 

A petrified Ariaza, the truck driver recounted the tragedy. 

Urvin Ariaza, Truck Driver: “I was coming from Dangriga heading to Belize Port when I saw the vehicle, come from my side. So I just pull up,a little on my side and still the vehicle caught me. It caught me from the front axle and it knocked the axle back of my truck. It also knocked the trailer, the dolly, and the second trailer. Then the vehicle lost control and hit the vehicle that was coming behind me.”

Rafael Roberts, Love News: This Ford F-150 that slammed into the left side of your truck, could you describe the speed that you saw it coming into you? 

Urvin Ariaza, Truck Driver: “Yeah, it was like 80 miles per hour.”

Rafael Roberts, Love News: 80 miles. And after receiving the, you know, being slammed into and you came to a stop, what did you went ahead and do? 

Urvin Ariaza, Truck Driver: “I just run, put some signs in front of my truck and I send my sign man to go check what’s happening in our back. But when I reached there, I just gone and help them to come out in the vehicle. “

Rafael Roberts, Love News: Upon rendering assistance to the occupants of the white 2012 F-150 he described the wreckage and the impact of the collision. 

Urvin Ariaza, Truck Driver:  “There was the one from the F-150, they were hurt; the babies and the lady was there and the next man. But the next Mexican, two of them, one was dead and the next one was breathing, but maybe like 20 minutes he dead.”

Rafael Roberts, Love News: Is there anything you’d like to say in regard to this accident?

Urvin Ariaza, Truck Driver: “I just want to make them think first before they drink. uh I feel sorry for the family too and I am sorry for those two Mexicans.” 

Rafael Roberts, Love News: The carnage in the aftermath, blocked the flow of traffic for over four hours where emergency medical technicians, the police and fire department and others carted away the bodies of both deceased men and the totaled Ford F-150 in the wake of this deadly road traffic incident.
