Two more Ladyville residents have been arraigned in connection with the murder of 29-year-old Elroy Edward Bainton, bringing the total number of persons charged in the case to three. 24-year-old construction worker Camryn Lozano of Marage Road and 18-year-old Caye Chapel employee Isaiah Beeks of Egbert Quilter Avenue were escorted to the Belize City Magistrate’s Court yesterday afternoon, where they were jointly read a single charge of murder. Since the offense is indictable, no plea was taken. Both men were remanded to the Belize Central Prison until their next court date set for March 16. The two now join 21-year-old Caryl Paul Rodas, who was previously arraigned and remanded on February 10 for the same killing. Police say the fatal shooting occurred on Sunday, January 25 shortly before six p.m. at the Jew Apartment Complex on Yellow Tail Street in Ladyville. Investigators responded to reports of gunfire and found Bainton suffering from multiple gunshot wounds beneath a nearby wooden structure after he reportedly attempted to flee the attack. He was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later. Authorities recovered several nine-millimeter expended shells and reviewed surveillance footage capturing numerous gunshots during the incident. A post-mortem examination later determined that Bainton died from hemorrhagic shock caused by a gunshot wound that severed a major artery in his thigh. All three accused men are scheduled to reappear together before the court in March as the case proceeds through the judicial process.
