Police in Belize City have detained two teenagers following the discovery of two firearms during an operation conducted by members of the Police Eagle Motorcycle Team. Authorities say seventeen-year-old Triston Hernandez, a vendor of Flamboyant Street, was escorted back to an area from which he had reportedly fled so that searches could be carried out. During the search, Police discovered a silver and black Ruger firearm. The weapon was shown to the minor and he was informed of the offence as Scenes of Crime personnel were called in to process the area. Shortly thereafter, officers detained another male who had been in the company of Hernandez. At the corner of Magazine Road, Police conducted a search and reportedly found a black CZ nine-millimeter pistol. The second individual was identified as a sixteen-year-old of North Creek Extension. Police are determining what charges will be brought against the minors in connection with the recovered firearms.
