Two United States nationals were deported from Trinidad and Tobago this week following an extradition exercise conducted by police in the Southern Division.
In a statement on Saturday, police said a 33-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman, both residing illegally at Arjoonsingh Drive, Palmiste, were deported on August 22. The two, wanted in the United States on narcotics trafficking charges, had been detained on August 19.
According to the release, the pair were escorted to Piarco International Airport, placed on a US-bound flight, and handed over to American authorities.
The operation involved the Southern Division Task Force, Southern Division Gang Unit, multiple intelligence agencies, Immigration officers, and agents of the US Embassy.
