As the unions are up in arms, and as the possible buy over of Smart and cable companies loom, the opposition is still trying to navigate and chart a way forward. Come tomorrow, both the Tracy Panton faction and the Shyne Barrow group will be holding a National Party Council meeting. According to the UDP leader, Moses Shyne Barrow, the National Party Council meeting will be held despite the recent efforts made to dissuade party members from attending. In a Facebook post, Barrow said that he, along with the Party Chairman and Central Executive, has “worked tirelessly to plan the way forward to bring the Party together.” He stressed the importance of respecting the authority of the Party Chairman, who has served for 15 years. Tomorrow’s National Party Council meeting, scheduled for 10 AM, is being presented as an opportunity for members to contribute to “reset, reunite and rebuild the UDP” in preparation for the October 5, 2025, National Convention. The agenda for the June 14 meeting includes discussions on the upcoming National Convention, welcoming participation in Special Constituency Conventions, reinstating expelled members, and recommending Constitutional Amendments. Meanwhile, Panton will be having a pre-meeting rally at the foot of the Bel-China bridge in Belize City followed by its own party meeting. Love News will be there to cover both events.
