Crime and public safety was briefly addressed yesterday by the United Democratic Party, where senior party member Patrick Faber weighed in on the current crime situation. Faber drew a comparison to past leadership within the party, suggesting that in times when crime escalated, decisive action would have been taken to restore order. He argued that stronger leadership and clearer direction are needed to address what he described as growing concerns over public safety.

Patrick Faber, UDP Senator: “When it was the Right Honorable Dean Barrow who was in charge of this country that would have been a national crisis. He would have locked all of you all right Mr. Broaster at Raccoon Street upstairs. But all the top brass of the police and the Coast Guard and everybody would have been locked down and we would have come up with an immediate measure to address crime and violence in this country. The amount of drugs that is being trafficked through our country right now off the hook, but we are soft on the PUP administration.”
In related developments, residents in Dangriga held a candlelight vigil last night in memory of those who have lost their lives in recent acts of violence in Dangriga and surrounding communities. The event brought together families, friends, and community members in a show of solidarity and reflection, as calls continue for peace and meaningful action to curb crime
