RADDESH ROMAN maintained his unstoppable form, booting home a four-timer yesterday, closing the two-meet Labour Day weekend with seven winners including Philip Feanny’s American, UNBELIEVABLE FORCE, in the Millard Ziadie Memorial at five and a half furlongs.
Caught close home in Friday’s Labour Day Trophy, aboard another Feanny American, MAJOR DANGER, by last year’s St Leger winner, INTRESTNTIMESAHEAD, Roman made no mistake with the speedy four-year-old filly, correctly sent off as the 4-5 favourite.
Leaving post-position 13 like a rocket, UNBELIEVABLE FORCE swatted BENSON and American debutant FLORINDIA off the lead within a half-furlong.
Blasting into the home turn, UNBELIEVABLE FORCE was pressed by five-year-old MONEY MARKET swinging off the corner.
However, topweight 126lb did MONEY MARKET no favours against UNBELIEVABLE FORCE, who changed gears from splits of 46.4 and 58.3, leaving the local-bred standing.
UNBELIEVABLE FORCE, another A. C. K. Stable, Feanny-trained foreigner, with names ending in ‘Force’, stopped the clock in 1:06.3, Roman’s third winner on the 10-race card.
Roman played a hand in trainer Adrian Prince’s first career three-timer, earlier booting home CATABA in the fifth and PROLIFIC PRINCE in the nightpan.
Prince’s third winner was American INCREDIBLE JO, who blew away rivals by a city block to land the seventh event at seven furlongs, her second consecutive win from three starts.
Roman also closed Patrick Lynch’s two-timer, winning the sixth astride LION CHARMER after the trainer’s PINEAPPLE won the fourth with claiming rider Demar Williams, who himself rode a two-timer, landing the eighth with 7-1 shot MEDAL AWARD.
Dane Dawkins opened the programme with a two-timer, MARGARITA and SO BEAUTIFUL but it was Roman’s day afterwards, keeping the first-time champion on course for what appears a routine defence of his crown.
Racing continues on Saturday, bringing down the curtain on seven days of action in May.
