Cumuto/Manzanilla MP Dr Rai Ragbir is vehemently condemning his political leader for what he describes as her “divisive racist rhetoric” and has pledged to pray for her mental wellbeing.

In a statement this morning, Dr Ragbir who is out of favour with Kamla Persad-Bissessar lamented that instead of addressing the allegations levelled against her deputy leader Dr Roodal Moonilal regarding the Estate Management and Business Development Company Ltd (EMBD), she instead decided to stoke racial tensions.

“It is ironic that someone who loudly professes to be “anti-woke” has now conveniently decided to play the race card for political mileage. Instead of uniting people, she is seeking to divide them—a strategy that will only lead to further disillusionment among UNC supporters and ensure that the UNC crashes to a third straight defeat in the coming general election,” Dr Ragbir posited.

The MP likened her to King Saul in the bible who he said was, “a leader who once had promise but, as his power slipped away, became paranoid, erratic, and consumed by his own insecurities. Instead of focusing on good governance, he lashed out at his own people, ultimately sealing his own fate.”

Dr Ragbir added, “I will continue to pray for Kamla Persad-Bissessar and hope that she seeks the help she clearly needs for both her physical and mental wellbeing.”

He urged citizens to not let politicians turn them against each other for their own selfish gain.

On Friday the Prime Minister also condemned the Opposition Leader for saying that the civil case brought against Dr Moonilal was politically and racially motivated.

Persad-Bissessar claimed that the PNM is attempting to run a smear campaign against the UNC by trying to paint all people of Indian descent as thieves.

Yesterday she stood firm in that belief despite the Prime Minister’s criticisms.

The UNC leader said Dr Rowley is simply trying to distract the public from what she called his many failures.
