The University Singers return to the stage for their 2025 Concert Season, running from June 6 to June 29 at the Philip Sherlock Centre for the Creative Arts, University of the West Indies, Mona. Performances will take place every weekend, Fridays to Sundays, with showtimes at 4 and 8 p.m.
The season will feature a diverse musical programme, including classical arrangements, Negro spirituals, Jamaican folk, reggae, and Revival music. Known for their dynamic performances and theatrical flair, the choir aims to deliver a powerful musical experience that showcases the richness of choral tradition and Jamaican cultural expression.
President Gavane Ferguson shared, “This season is more than a performance, it’s a celebration of advocacy, sacrifice, discipline, artistry, and community. Every note and movement reflects the months of dedication our members have poured in. We are thrilled to welcome our audience into this space of joy and cultural expression.”
The season will feature original compositions by Musical Director Franklin E. Halliburton and the late former Musical Director Noel G. Dexter, alongside a medley of songs by acclaimed composers including Buju Banton, Moses Hogan, Giuseppe Verdi, and others.
According to Franklin Halliburton, “The audience can expect not only highly intricate harmonies, but also complementary movements that add dynamic layers and unforgettable moments to each performance. Alongside the musical excellence, the visual experience, with vibrant costumes and expressive staging, promises a truly multi-sensory journey that will move, inspire, and linger long after the final note.”
