Co-hosts the United States produced the first real shock of the ICC T20 Word Cup, they beat one of the tournament favourites Pakistan in a super over to take over the leadership of group A
Pakistan batted first and were restricted to 159 for 7 in their 20 overs, this on the back of a top score of 44 from captain Babar Azam, Shadab Khan 40 and Shaheen Shah Afridi 23 not out.
The U.S then produced a measured batting performance to tie the score with 159 for 3 in their 20 overs.
Captain Monank Patel crafted a superb half century and he was supported by Andries Gous 35 and Aaron Jones 36 not out.
The USA won the Super Over 18/13.
