Aditi Kumar and Saanvi Immadi grabbed four wicket hauls to bowl USA Women Under-19’s to a comprehensive 23-run win over West Indies Women Under-19’s in the third Youth T20I, yesterday.
The West Indies did well to limit USA to 104 for seven in their 20 overs after the visitors won the toss and elected to bat first at the Sir Frank Worrell Memorial Ground.
However, Kumar ran through the home side’s top order while Immadi dismantled the lower order to skittle them out for 81 in 19 overs to even the six-match series at 1-1.
Earlier, through the efforts of spinners Theanny Herbert-Mayers and Brianna Plumber, West Indies reduced USA to 57 for six in the 15th over.
But Taranum Chopra, who scored an unbeaten 28 together with Maahi Madhavan, who made 20, added 39 runs for the seventh wicket to carry them within the 100-run mark.
Herbert-Mayers ended with figures of 2-9, while Plumber took 2-24.
Faced with a seemingly straightforward run chase, West Indies found themselves in dire straits at 18 for three after Kumar dismissed Amrita Ramtahal, Naijanni Cumberbatch and Brianna Harricharan.
Immadi then struck to remove Eboni Brathwaite, Adanya Baugh and Herbert-Mayers, to see West Indies collapse to 29 for seven.
Captain Samara Ramnath tried her best to revive the innings in an unbeaten knock of 35 off 44 balls – the only batter to score in double digits – but she was left stranded as wickets fell all around her.
Kumar finished with 4-10 and Saanvi Immadi took 4-16.
