University of Technology (UTech) student Shevauni Javani Powell is Mr Supranational Jamaica 2025.
The announcement of his victory was made on Sunday at the AC Hotel in St Andrew during a private event. He was selected as the winner from among four other finalists.
Powell, the tallest man from the lot of finalists, standing at 6 feet and 3 inches in height, was able to win the hearts of the judges in the various aspects of the competition where he was judged based on his demeanour, speech, talent, swim wear, and more.
During an interview with The Gleaner post announcement, Powell said he was excited about the upcoming journey to the international staging of the competition, which he will be attending on June 28 at the Strzelecki Park Amphitheatre in Nowy Sacz, Malpolska, Poland.
“I’m excited and I’m looking forward to the life-changing experience. I’m looking forward to bring the essence of Jamaica to Poland and also sharing with the different cultures that would be there,” the 31-year-old Powell said.
When asked what he thought made him cop the winning prize, he said he was confident from he arrived at the hotel and believed in his brand, and also confidently portrayed how he can represent the nation of Jamaica in Poland.
“I believe that I represented myself very well today,” he said.
A major part of his journey to Poland will include him exercising daily and getting more in shape with training from popular gym owner and fitness enthusiast, Audrey Allwood from Fit Farm Fitness Club.
SERVED IN VARIOUS CAPACITIES
Powell grew up in Green Mount District in Mile Gully, Manchester and now resides in Portmore, St Catherine. He is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree with a major in computer science and also serves professionally as branch sales representative for Jamaica National Bank. He has a wealth of knowledge and experience in various capacities, including roles as a member service officer, member service representative, social media brand ambassador, youth brand ambassador, an e-channels agent, an information technology trainer and motivational speaker.
Mister Supranational is an international male beauty pageant, founded by Gerardo Von Lipinsky and Marcela Lobón, that aims to discover new talent for the modelling and television industries, with the first edition held in 2016 in Poland.
The Mr Jamaica Supranational competition was recently taken over by franchise directors, Mark McDermott and Karl Williams, who are also the Miss Universe franchise holders and directors.
The competition is geared towards identifying men of value from Jamaica to represent the country. In 2024, Jermaine Harris emerged the winner and represented Jamaica in Poland at the international finals.
