Valley of Peace Launches Pilot Garbage Collection Initiative

Residents of Valley of Peace are expected to benefit from an improved garbage collection system following the launch of a pilot waste management initiative in the community. The project officially got underway yesterday with the handover of a new garbage trailer from the Department of the Environment to the Valley of Peace Village Council.  The initiative was formalized through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Sustainable Development, acting through the Department of the Environment, and the Village Council. Minister of Sustainable Development, Orlando Habet, attended the handover ceremony and said the pilot project represents more than simply providing equipment. According to Habet, the initiative is designed to help communities develop sustainable waste management practices while fostering a stronger sense of environmental responsibility among residents.

The project forms part of the Ministry’s National Anti-Littering Campaign, which seeks to promote responsible waste disposal through community partnerships, public education and practical solutions tailored to local needs.
