Dancehall diva Vanessa Bling is refuting rumours that she threw her microphone to the ground while performing in London at the Sandz Caribbean Music Festival on Sunday because she was being booed.

In an exclusive conversation with THE STAR, she said that the sound was locked off because of chaos that was happening outside the venue, including overcrowding.

"So I'm like 'Okay, my fans pay their money to come and see Vanessa Bling so I'm not gonna leave dem dry for the next day y'all turn the narrative how you want it'. So I walked out a cappella for my fans because any way it did a guh tek me fi sing fi dem, it did a guh happen and that's what I did," she stated.

In standing her ground after the microphone got cut off, the artiste said she was even confronted by a police officer during her performance, as captured in a video recording. But she said that he didn't faze her.

"Honestly, during this time I just started singing [my hit single] Lord Have Mercy On Me because I see trouble in front a me and I'm like, 'Not today Satan, not today, I make a promise to God and I will never break that'. And after singing [that song] I just started feeling back that energy and I said 'Okay, I'm good again, let's go,'" she said, jokingly adding that she was never fearful, as her fans had her back.

"Mi did done see how it set up suh I told myself I'm not gonna react because once I do that, mi know how my fans dem stay, dem ago get 'dark'. Suh mi just keep it cool, mek him duh him thing, as long as him don't touch mi, dat is okay with me ... suh mi did good," she said.

Vanessa Bling said that she never heard the booing that is being reported on the Internet.

"I don't know where dem get dat from and even if dat happen, a muss when me leave. Because when dem lock off everything and mi fling dung di mic because mi neva dida hear nutten and dem dida get overly disrespectful, suh mi throw weh di mic and a come off addi stage and mi only hear one side [of the audience] a seh 'Vanessa' and another side a seh 'Bling,'" she explained. "So dat booing thing must've been when di place guh dark like midnight, while Aidonia was on the stage performing and then after everything just lock dung."

Vanessa Bling and Aidonia were the main headliners for the London staging of Sandz, which is now on its world tour. The event marked the first time it was being staged in the UK and saw a sea of Caribbean music lovers flocking the venue to indulge in the diverse entertainment the event is known to deliver.

Despite the brouhaha and the unexpected havoc, Vanessa Bling still managed to thrill fans through a soulful performance with songs such as Future Guaranteed, One Man, and Everything Fi Hold Him, which got the buzzing audience singing in unison.

"Overall, I'd say I stood my ground and gave my fans a beautiful performance which shows my strength and resilience and there's no way I was gonna let the people dem pay dem hard earned money and nuh give dem a real Vanessa Bling performance," she stressed as she promised fans that she'll return "bigger and better" with a live music band for her next UK appearance.

However, she also suggested that though the organisers didn't see many of the mishaps coming, she advised them on beefing up their security team for the next staging in order to have a greater outcome.
