Vaz Denounces Bloggers’ Attempts to Undermine Rural School Bus Programme

Transport minister, Daryl Vaz, says he’s disappointed by what he says is the wicked, evil and sustained attack on the government’s rural school bus programme by the opposition People’s National Party, PNP.

Minister Vaz says the latest phase of the PNP’s attack involves the use of bloggers to raise doubt about the cost of the buses and the inspection regime.

Several bloggers have been posting documents which claim to show that the Trade Board waived the inspectionof the buses as they entered the island.

That has caused some users of social media to interpret that the buses have not been properly tested for road worthiness in Jamaican conditions.

But Minister Vaz says the buses have undergone rigorous inspection at various levels including by the United States Department of Transport and engineers at the Island Traffic Authority and the Jamaica Urban Transit Company.

He says he will continue to be transparent about the programme.

Daryl Vaz, Minister of Transport.
