Although not making any official statement on T&T as yet, the Venezuelan government has harshly criticised Guyana’s government for supporting the United States’ decision to send military assets to the Caribbean.
On Saturday night, Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar declared that her Government fully supports the United States’ deployment of military assets into the region to combat terrorist drug cartels.
Persad-Bissessar clarified that the US has never requested access to T&T territory for any military action against the Venezuelan regime.
However, she issued a stern warning, saying if the Nicolas Maduro regime were to attack Guyana or invade its territory, and the US requested access to T&T territory to defend Guyana, her Government “will unflinchingly provide them that access.”
Yesterday, Venezuela Vice President Delcy Rodriguez lashed out at Guyana President Irfaan Ali for his support of the latest moves of the US.
“Irfaan Ali, Marco Rubio’s pawn, spares no opportunity to kowtow to his American masters,” Rodriguez in response to a statement Ali published accusing Venezuela of being part of the alleged Cartel of the Suns.
Rodriguez reported that the Guyana Communiqué was “rife with lies about Venezuela.”
On her Telegram channel, Rodriguez pointed out that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio published the Guyana government’s statement at 1.37 pm on Saturday on his X account, while the Guyana President did so at 6.15 pm.
She also criticised Guyana for being pawns of the big US companies.
“Who rules Guyana? Exxon Mobil. They threaten the peace of Latin America and the Caribbean with their excessive desire to steal energy from Venezuela at all costs. With their falsehoods and lies, they seek to justify the intervention of our homeland. The brave people of Bolívar will never allow this! Let us all enlist in the Bolivarian Militia to defend the sovereignty, self-determination, and peace of Venezuela!” she emphasised.
