Victorious JCI Jamaica Takes Third Consecutive Championship In Santa Marta English Debate
JCI Jamaica emerged victorious, winning the English Debating Championship for the third consecutive year at the prestigious JCI Conference of Americas held in Santa Marta, Colombia, from May 03-06, 2023, cementing their position as one of the foremost debating teams in the region.
The English Debating Championship, organized by JCI Americas, brings together talented debaters from across the region to showcase their eloquence, critical thinking, and persuasive skills.
JCI Jamaica’s team displayed unparalleled expertise, dedication, and teamwork, captivating the judges and audience with their exceptional arguments and eloquent delivery, proving their prowess in debate and their commitment to advancing their skills.
The team of Reneil Clarke, Marklon Bedward, and Miguel Edmondson will be heading to Zurich, Switzerland in November 2023 for the JCI World Congress and to compete for the global title at the JCI World Debating Championship.
JCI Jamaica National President, Mr. Odell Marsh, expressed his immense pride in the team’s victory, stating, “It is an incredible honour to witness JCI Jamaica secure the English Debating Championship title for the third consecutive year. This remarkable achievement is a testament to the talent, hard work, and perseverance of our debaters who have represented Jamaica with distinction, embodying the spirit of JCI and demonstrating our commitment to excellence.”
In addition to the remarkable success at the English Debating Championship, Mr. Marsh has received notable recognition for his outstanding leadership and tireless dedication with his successful nomination as an International Vice President for JCI in 2024.
This esteemed position reflects the global recognition of Mr. Marsh’s exceptional contributions to the organization and his commitment to fostering positive change on an international scale. His nomination is testimony to the respect and admiration he has garnered within the JCI community, both locally and internationally.
As an International Vice President, Mr. Marsh says he will continue “to champion the ideals of JCI, fostering leadership, entrepreneurship, and impactful projects that empower young people to create positive change in their communities.”
