The Government of Vietnam has pledged to strengthen cooperation with Belize in several key sectors. The pledge was communicated last week as Vietnamese Ambassador to Mexico and Belize, Nguyen Van Hai, presented his letter of credentials to Governor-General Dame Froyla Tzalam. During the meeting, Ambassador Hai highlighted key areas for enhanced cooperation, including sustainable agriculture, eco-tourism, climate change adaptation, and South-South cooperation. He stressed that Vietnam has significant experience in these areas and stands ready to share its expertise with Belize. Before he met with the Governor-General, Ambassador Hai held working sessions with Prime Minister John Briceño and presented his credential letter to Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade, Culture, and Immigration Francis Fonseca. Discussions during these meetings centered on shared priorities, including increasing high-level delegation exchanges, working towards a visa exemption agreement for diplomatic and official passport holders, and strengthening mutual support in multilateral forums. Belize and Vietnam are also exploring expanding cooperation in areas like education, digital transformation, and the response to climate change.
