League leaders Jus For Fun (JFF) Vikings produced another commanding performance, defeating newcomers Game Shot 8-2 as the National Mickey Mouse League of Darts continued to deliver plenty of drama and unexpected results as match day three unfolded on Tuesday (September 8) at Kosmos Club in Port-of-Spain.
With the league beginning to take shape across all three divisions, the pressure is mounting as teams look to establish themselves among the early contenders.
The Vikings wasted little time asserting their dominance, racing into a 3-1 lead before taking control of the singles round. They won four of the five singles matches before completing a comprehensive victory in the final team game. The result keeps the Vikings at the top of the A Division standings with 19 points.
E-Z Lines climb to second
E-Z Lines moved into second place after a hard-fought 6-4 victory over the Drifters. The contest required some individual brilliance from James Walklin, Paul Joseph and Karen Ramcharan, who produced important performances during the singles round to help E-Z Lines pull away and secure the victory. The reigning champions now sit on 17 points, just two behind the league-leading Vikings.
Flighted Friends complete stunning comeback
One of the biggest surprises of the night came from Flighted Friends, who handed DOGS (De Original Game Shot)another setback with an impressive 6-4 comeback victory. The match was evenly poised at 2-2 after the opening block, but DOGS appeared to have taken control when Jerry Dolabaille and Joshua Balfour won their singles matches to put their team ahead 4-2.
Flighted Friends, however, refused to fold. They stormed back by winning the remaining three singles matches before completing the comeback in the final team game to seal a memorable 6-4 victory.
The result moves Flighted Friends into third place on 16 points, while DOGS remain in fifth and are enduring what has been a difficult start to the season.
Scorpions continued their impressive campaign with a convincing 7-3 victory over Reckless in the B Division.
The result strengthens their position at the top of the B Division, with Scorpions now sitting comfortably on 22 points.
Jus For Fun Snipers were made to work for their victory but eventually overcame Triple Vision 6-4 in a closely contested encounter.
The win keeps the Snipers in second place with 16 points.
Westerly Pirates also remain on 16 points and sit third after a convincing 7-3 victory over Shanghai Bulls.
The result leaves Shanghai Bulls at the bottom of the B Division standings on 11 points.
Bullz I send another warning
If there was any doubt about who the team to beat in the C Division is, Bullz I answered it emphatically on Match Day Three.
The league leaders dismantled second-place Shooters 8-2 in what was expected to be a major top-of-the-table battle.
Instead, Bullz I produced another devastating display to underline their dominance and strengthen their position at the summit with an impressive 24 points.
QPCC Howz-Dart are still searching for their first victory of the season, but their campaign continues to represent their best start to a season so far. They battled to a 5-5 draw against Random Squad, earning another valuable point and moving into third place on 14 points.
Top Shot produced one of the biggest results of the night, crushing the experienced Bulldogs 9-1. The emphatic victory lifts Top Shot into fifth place, while Bulldogs suffered a major blow to their campaign and now find themselves at the bottom of the C Division standings.
Match day four: Big tests ahead
The action continues today (September 15), at the same venue with several intriguing battles on the schedule.
In the A Division, DOGS face an enormous challenge as they take on league leaders Jus For Fun Vikings. With DOGS struggling to find their form, they will need a major response against the team currently setting the pace.
In the B Division, Scorpions’ title charge faces another serious test when the league leaders meet an in-form Westerly Pirates side.
Meanwhile, C Division leaders Bullz I will look to continue their remarkable run when they face Sea Wolves. With Bullz I showing little sign of slowing down, Sea Wolves face a difficult task against the division’s runaway leaders.
