For the past week, the VSU online portal has been unavailable to the public, following the detection of unauthorized access during routine maintenance. The shutdown was announced on September 30, and while Civil Registry and Vital Statistics services have now resumed at offices countrywide, online access remains suspended. Officials had initially targeted today, October 5, for restoring the system, subject to the completion of security checks and validations. However, in a notice issued today, the Civil Registry Department and Vital Statistics Unit said technical teams are continuing their assessments. No revised date was provided for bringing the public portal back online. According to the department, its staff remains available at the VSU office in Belize City or any district office for services and assistance. The CRVS system was officially launched on December 10 last year, just under ten months ago, allowing users to apply for vital records, make payments and track their applications online.
