Dancehall superstar Adidja ‘Vybz Kartel’ Palmer opened the highly-anticipated Freedom Street with his popular hit Dallaz, the Don Corleon-produced track released in 2009.
Patrons erupted across the National Stadium in St Andrew as a sharply dressed Kartel entered the stage in a three-piece pinstripe suit.
He upped the ante with a quick rendition of his Locked Up Remix, much to the delight of patient fans.
Karlel's performance marks his long-awaited return to the Jamaican stage following his release from prison after spending 13 years behind bars for a crime for which he was acquitted by the Court of Appeal in July.
“After 13 years, we deh yah, and we a give God thanks,” Kartel said as he made his way around the stage.
The deejay continued with hit songs like Thank You Jah and Marie before bringing out a host of entertainers he has worked with over the years.
Rvssian, Jah Vinci, Shawn Storm, Sheba and Gaza Indu were just a few of the acts who delivered some of their most memorable tracks with the ‘Teacha’.
But, it was the Queen of the Dancehall, Spice, who shook things up with a host of her songs that got the audience jumping.
Ramping Shop, So Me Like It, and Back Way had the ladies dancing like there was no tomorrow.
Freedom Street is still underway, with the likes of Skillibeng, Shatta Wale, and Popcaan still expected to perform.
