West Indies women beat South Africa by 4 wickets under the Duckworth/Lewis method a short while ago in Barbados to take a 1-nil lead in their three match One Day International Series.

After restricting the South Africans to 232 for 9 in their 50 overs, the Windies were asked to get a revised victory target following a rain interruption.

They reached the 180 for 6 in 32 overs. Quiana Joseph 60 and captain Hayley Matthews 40 made most runs, they put on 88 for the first wicket.

Stafanie Taylor who 30 not out at the end as Ayanda Hlubi picked up 3 for 50.

Tazmin Britz led the batting for South Africa with 57, Nadine Deklerk made 42 while Sune Luus weighed in with 32.

Karishma Ramharack and Aaliyah Alleyne bagged two wickets apiece.

The second game is on Saturday also in Barbados.
