The annual David “Wagga” Hunt Football Classic takes place with three exciting matchups at the Mona Bowl, on Saturday.
In the opening match, UWI Pelicans take on St Georges Masters; August Town with their Super League team will tackle Premier League giants Harbour View, and then the feature match will see Kingston College against rivals Calabar High School in a preseason classic.
This event is used to raise funds to support needy students who excel in the classroom and on the field of play.
Established in 2009, the scholarship foundation grants awards to two grade eight students of KC and Calabar, annually, valued at $150,000 each.
Disbursements run through grade 13 for a total of $900,000 and cover books, lunch, and other related expenses.
Selection is based on financial need, academic performance, participation in sports or extra-curricular activity, attendance, deportment, and discipline.
These criteria must be maintained throughout the life of the scholarship.
