Warmington Urges Westmoreland Labourites to Vote to Secure 3rd Term

South West St. Catherine Member of Parliament, MP, Everald Warmington, is encouraging Labourites in Westmoreland to continue to work with the Jamaica Labour Party, JLP, MPs in the parish in order to secure another term.

Mr. Warmington made the plea during a JLP workers awards ceremony in Central Westmoreland on Sunday night.

Central, Eastern, and Western Westmoreland historically votes for the People’s National Party, PNP. But the JLP swept all three constituencies in the 2020 general elections.

George Wright, Daniel Lawrence and Dr. Garfield James will be aiming to retain the seats in the JLP winning column in the next general election.

The latest Nationwide/Bluedot polls, in June showed that JLP leader and prime minister, Dr. Andrew Holness, enjoyed a double digit lead on PNP president and opposition leader, Mark Golding in Westmoreland.

The voters were asked who they’d choose if they could directly elect a prime minister.

The data show that Dr. Holness had a more than 40 per cent positive job approval rating by voters in the parish, compared to Golding’s 19 per cent.

Still, seemingly recognising the uphill task ahead, MP Warmington urged JLP supporters to show up in numbers on the day of the election.

Everald Warmington, MP for South West St. Catherine.
