WASA has announced a series of infrastructure upgrades aimed at improving water supply for over 300,000 residents in north-east Trinidad.

The projects include:

   ●   Expanding the Guanapo Water Treatment Plant from 3.5 to 5.5 million gallons per day

   ●   Replacing storage tanks at the North Oropouche facility

   ●   Building a new 12 million gallon-per-day plant in Salybia/Matura

   ●   Developing a new well in Sangre Grande to produce 0.5 million gallons per day

   ●   Refurbishing the Cumuto plant and drilling two new wells

   ●   Constructing a new booster station in Coryal

Some communities currently receiving little or no water are expected to get a minimum of 24/3 service, with some moving to 24/7 supply.

During a site tour on July 5, Acting CEO Jeevan Joseph said the upgrades are part of the utility’s push to deliver projects on time and support the government’s goal of fair and reliable water access.

The next facility tours are scheduled for Central on July 12 and Tobago on July 17.
