Waterhouse Beat Vere United in Clash of Struggling JPL Teams

Former champions Waterhouse beat relegation threatened Vere United 2-1 at Drewsland in the late game in the Wray and Nephew Jamaica Premier League on Wednesday.

Denzel McKenzie gave Vere the lead on 32 minutes. Leonardo Jibbison equalised for Waterhouse in the 71st minute before Andre Fletcher secured all three points for the hosts deep into added time.

The teams ended the game with ten players each after Elvis Wilson and Kevaughn Atkinson were both shown red cards.

Waterhouse remain eighth on the table while Vere sit at the foot of the standings.

In the day’s early games Tivoli outscored Dunbeholden 4-2 and Portmore United beat Harbour View 2-0.

Two more games are on the schedule for Thursday.

Chapelton Maroons square off with Humble Lion in a Clarendon derby at the Tony Spaulding Sports Complex while Montego Bay United host Molynes United at Catherine Hall.
