Entertainer Wayne Marshall is gearing up to hit the stage at the grand finals of the 2025 CB Foods PAN Chicken competition this Sunday at Jamaica College, where he will perform alongside his eldest son, Giomar Mitchell. Marshall, known for hits like Good Love and Glory to God, will take the stage during the Night Time Vibes session with Lila Iké and Kevin Downswell, while Mitchell is billed for the Day Time Vibes showcase.
Reflecting on their shared musical journey, Marshall said, “It’s a proud feeling to know me and my son Giomar will be performing onstage both together and individually.” He recalled the very first time he introduced his son to a stage. “He was nine years old and I realised he had a natural talent and love for music. Now he has original music to deliver and a lot more experience performing. I will be there watching him like a fan, supporter and proud father.”
Celebrating over 25 years in music, Marshall promises a high-energy set, “I’m going to be going through the full catalogue of songs and will be bringing some surprises as well. [Giomar and I] are going to bring the energy and experience to PAN this year, and we are looking forward to sharing the stage with Lila Iké, Kevin Downswell and the dynamic hosts.”
For Mitchell, the occasion marks a milestone, as this will be his first official solo billing on the same line-up as his father. He noted that the experience is both exciting and reassuring, since it allows him to showcase his own artistry while still sharing the spotlight with Marshall. “Honestly this is the first ever show where me and my dad are booked for separate performances altogether, so this is a huge milestone for not only me but for my dad as well. It’s a great feeling; my goal with my performance [is] to deliver a throwback experience into some of the great songs and frequencies that put Jamaica on the map,” Mitchell said.
Marshall also noted his son’s growth as a musician, highlighting his versatility as a singer, writer, and producer, and praised the strong team of young professionals Mitchell has assembled, adding that, “The aim is that with my guidance he can go even further than I ever dreamed to go.”
MORE PERFORMERS
Rounding out the Night Time Vibes session will be reggae singer Lila Iké, bringing her soulful, authentic sound that has won over fans both locally and internationally. Gospel artiste Kevin Downswell is also set to inspire through ministry and music. “It will not be normal,” Downswell declared. “I’m excited to minister and share the stage with some incredible talent, and I’m really looking forward to praising the King of kings with the patrons.”
Adding to the excitement, Khadine ‘Miss Kitty’ Wilkinson will serve as host for the night session, taking over duties from the day hosts, Dufton ‘Duffy’ Shepherd and Daindra Harrison. She said she is eager to bring her trademark energy to the PAN stage. “I love the growth of PAN over the years, and I love the fact that I am a part of a product that changes the lives of the PAN chicken men and women across the island. It has been wonderful,” she shared, noting how the event continues to unite communities.
“Jerk flavour is indigenous to Jamaica, and to see CB Foods conceptualise PAN is amazing because they add a new element each time the competition is held. This is an event that brings people together. Patrons get to experience top-calibre artistes for free, and most of all, the children are not left out of the mix, because so much is there to entertain them,” she added.
Over 20 PAN vendors, who advanced through two developmental workshops, will compete for the coveted title of CB Foods PAN Chicken Champion and Sauce Boss Champion. New this year is the Copperwood PAN Pork Competition, which features past PAN finalists.
Nicole Hall, senior manager of commercial marketing at CB Foods, said the excitement of the event mirrors the diversity of its entertainment line-up. “PAN is such a dynamic event, there’s truly something for everyone, and that’s beautifully reflected in our entertainment,” she explained.
