Celebrating a shared journey of six years, Magnum Tonic Wine and Jussbuss Television are reimagining their partnership, aiming to elevate dancehall culture and provide an authentic platform for Jamaica’s rising and seasoned talents.

In 2019, Magnum Tonic Wine joined forces with the Jussbuss team, supporting Jussbuss Acoustic, which opened doors for other series like ‘Spice it Up’, hosted by Dancehall Queen Spice, and Magnum’s ‘Dancing With’. The partnership with Magnum was pivotal to the launch of ‘Weh Yuh Know Bout Dancehall’ (or WYKBD), a spontaneous, lively and interactive cultural quiz. Originally a humorous “taxi ride” trivia game, the programme has grown into an essential segment of the brand’s entertainment offerings.

‘Supportive of creatives’

Jussbuss, founded in 2010 by Johnathan Newman, Andrew Jackson, and Pierce McLean, has evolved from a high school sound system into a media production company specialising in long-format content and series-based entertainment.

“Magnum has been an integral part of our journey,” Newman said. “They are supportive of creatives, and more so of the dancehall community, with a mission that constantly seeks talent whose purpose is to champion dancehall on global platforms.”

Building on the success of past seasons of Weh Yuh Know Bout Dancehall, the upcoming episodes promise to be more dynamic than ever, with social media personality and skit comedian Deno Crazy taking the reins as host.

“By tapping into young talents like Deno Crazy, we’re not only celebrating the essence of dancehall, but also ensuring its legacy lives on through new voices and perspectives. As a brand that’s deeply rooted in dancehall culture, Magnum Tonic Wine is excited to bring the series to new audiences and with fresh energy – that is, the quality we are always guaranteed when working with a team as innovative as Jussbuss,” Brandon Wallace, Magnum brand manager, said.

As part of their commitment to capturing the vibrant spirit of Jamaicans, Jussbuss has taken production on the road, filming episodes at popular locations in Montego Bay and Ocho Rios, with plans to pop up at local street dances.

The series will première on TVJ on February 21.
