Well known football coach Geoffrey Maxwell has died.
Maxwell, who was battling Alzheimer’s disease, passed away just after 8 on Saturday morning at a nursing home. He was 76-years-old.
Maxwell’s son Christopher told Nationwide Sports that the family was preparing for this moment.
The former national defender won the nation’s biggest local club football prize, the National Premier League title with Waterhouse in 1998.
Maxwell also coached his alma mater Excelsior High to Manning and Walker Cup title successes in the 1980’s.
The former national coach was honoured in 2024 by the Jamaica Football Federation for his contribution to the sport locally.
