New bowling sensation Shamar Joseph was named in the West Indies 15 man squad for the ICC T20 World Cup starting June 1.
Joseph bursts onto the scene with two stunning performances against Australia in January, including a destructive 7 for 68 in the second test at the Gabba that gave West Indies Victory and a share of the series.
Joseph is currently playing for the Lucknow Super Giants in the Indian Premier League.
Jamaica’s Andre Russell, who was left out of the last West Indies World Cup squad, is back for what’s expected to be his last stand on in a global tournament.
Johnson Charles, who fired an impressive century for West Indies A against Nepal a few days ago, is also in the squad.
The full West Indies sauad which was announced in Friday is captain Rovman Powell, vice captain Alzarri Joseph, Johnson Charles, Roston Chase, Shimron Hetmyer, Jason Holder, Shamar Joseph, Brandon King, Akeal Hosein, Gudakesh Motie, Nicholas Pooran, Sherfane Rutherford and Romario Shepherd.
The West Indies will open their quest for a third World T20 title on June 2 against Papua New Guinea in Guyana.
