Western Division cops foil kidnapping

Police officers of the Western Division foiled a kidnapping, held two suspects and seized a gun and ammunition during a series of co-ordinated crime eradication and roving stop and search exercises over the weekend.

On November 1, officers of the West End Police Station conducted a roving stop and search exercise under the supervision of Insp Perry, Sgt Bentick and Cpl King, with PC Simmons and PC Lynch participating.

During the exercise, the officers received information via the Command Centre of a kidnapping involving a white Nissan Tiida, reportedly taken from the St Clair district.

Acting swiftly, the officers went to Roxborough Extension, Diego Martin, where they met the victim who confirmed being taken against her will, the suspect who was also present was arrested.

Further investigations led officers to Eligon Avenue, Diego Martin, where the vehicle was located and secured. The victim, suspect, and vehicle were all taken to the West End Police Station.

Investigations are ongoing.

On November 2, between the hours of 3 pm and 10 pm, members of the Western Division Task Force (WDTF) carried out an intelligence-led operation under the supervision of ASP Aguilera, Insp Grant, and Sgt Dominique, sanctioned by Snr Supt Williams.

Officers conducted surveillance exercises at Upper Dundonald Hill, St. James, which led to the arrest of a suspect in connection with a Breach of Protection Order.

Investigations are continuing.

Around 7.30 p.m., acting on intelligence information, officers proceeded to La Horquette Branch Road, Glencoe, near the Point Cumana Regional Complex, where they discovered a silver and black revolver loaded with five rounds of .38 ammunition.

At 8.15 pm, the officers conducted a search along the Old Diego Martin Link Road near Acton Court which led to the discovery of two apparent gold rings hidden in a KFC box near a trailer flatbed. The items were seized as evidence.
