Former men’s national football team coach Theodore Whitmore and his entire backroom staff at Mount Pleasant Academy will leave the St. Ann-based club by the end of July.

Whitmore, who took over as head coach of Mount Pleasant on August 1, 2022, was given notice by the owners of the club that his contract will not be renewed.

The two year deal runs out at the end of July. Assistant coach Davian Ferguson, goalkeeper coach Warren Barrett and the two physical trainers Dwayne Peters and Lamar Morgan will all leave with Whitmore.

The Mount Pleasant owners say they want to take the club in a different direction as what currently obtains does not align with their business model where the club needs to sustain itself.

They are concerned that the original plans for the club to develop its own players for the senior team and to sell to the different markets, have been side-tracked.

Whitmore led Mount Pleasant to its first and only National Premier League title in his first season in charge and was beaten by Cavalier in a final rematch two weeks ago.

The club has also realised its ambition of playing in the Concacaf Club Championship.
