WI Breaks 34 Year Drought, as They Crushed Pakistan in ODI Series

The West Indies broke a 34 year drought and beat Pakistan in a One Day International Series on Tuesday after an impressive 202 run win at the Brian Lara Stadium Trinidad in the final game of their three match series.

Captain Shai Hope belted his 18th One Day century, an unbeaten 120 off 97 balls to steer West Indies to 294 for 6 off their 50 overs.

He slammed 10 fours and 3 sixes and shared in an unbroken sixth wicked stand of 110 with Justin Greaves who weighed in with 43….Evin Lewis 37 and Roston Chase 36 also scored well.

Pakistan were then rolled over for 92 in just 29.2 overs as Jayden Seales bagged career best One Day figures of 6 for 18, the third best by a West Indian and Gudakesh Motie 2 for 37

Salman Aghar 30 and Mohammed Nawaz 23 were the only Pakistanis into double figures.

It was the biggest win by West Indies over a member nation in One Day Internationals and captain Shai Hope says this one is for the people of the West Indies.

Man of the series Seales who ended the three matches with ten wickets says for him it was just a matter replicating what he did in training.

The West Indies bagged more ratings points towards qualifying for the 2027 World Cup, they are ninth in the standings and must at the very least remain there by the March 31, 2027 cut off date.

The West Indies will next be in action later this year when they visit India for a test series.
