Trinidad and Tobago teenager Samara Ramnath took four wickets for just six runs this morning, as the West Indies beat host Malaysia by 53 runs in Kuala Lumpur to secure a spot in the Super Six stage of the Women’s Under-19 T20 World Cup.

Asabi Callendar top scored with 30 as the Winidies posted 112. Jazhara Claxson weighed in with 19 and Abigail Bryce 14.

Malaysia was then dismissed for 59 in 18 overs as Naijanni Cumberbatch and Erin Deane supported with two wickets each.

This victory marked the West Indies’ first win in the tournament after a tough start, with losses to India and Sri Lanka.

The win secured third place in Group A for the West Indies and also eliminated Malaysia, who finished at the bottom of the group with three defeats.

The West Indies is scheduled to play Australia, who topped Group D, in the Super Six match on Saturday in Bangi.
