Finance Minister, Fayval Williams, has dismissed criticism that the national finance debate format is being changed to accommodate her.
The Jamaica Debates Commission has announced that this year’s political debate on finance will take a team format, and cover broader economic issues.
It’s the first time the debate is utilising a team format. Usually the Finance Minister directly faces off against their opposition counterpart.
Some in the opposition PNP have criticised the change, arguing it is intended to shield Fayval Williams.
But chairman of the JLP’s campaign committee, Dr. Christopher Tufton says the party has full confidence in Mrs. Williams, despite her not speaking at the party’s mass rally on Sunday.
