PNP candidate in North East Manchester, Valenton Wint, is vowing to boot the JLP from the constituency on his third attempt.

He says he will be particularly focused on agriculture and education.

On September 3, he will be going up against the JLP’s Ambassador Audrey Marks and the Jamaica Progressive Party’s Clive Warren.

The governing JLP has been representing the constituency for the last 32 years.

But Wint is undaunted.

Wint has challenged former MP, Audley Shaw twice.

In 2011, he was defeated by almost 600 votes.

In 2016, he was defeated by 1,647 votes.

Wint later did a short stint in South West St. Ann, but was defeated by the JLP’s Zavia Mayne in the 2020 General Election by 3,835 votes.

Meanwhile, the JLP’s candidate in North East Manchester, Ambassador Audrey Marks, says she will be focusing on the economic transformation of the constituency.

The former Ambassador to the United States is contesting a general election for the very first time.

On Nomination Day, she was accompanied by the former MP, Audley Shaw, Councillor for the Craighead Division, Omar Miller and the party’s caretaker for the Christiana Division, Desmond Harrison.

She began her tour of duty as Jamaican Ambassador to the United States and Permanent Representative to the Organization of American States in 2016.

She’s Jamaica’s first female ambassador to the United States.

She’s since been replaced by former police commissioner, retired Major General Antony Anderson.

And the Jamaica Progressive Party, JPP’s candidate in North East Manchester, Clive Warren is describing his party as a tsunami.

He’s vowing to bring about change to the constituency.

The JPP is the country’s the fourth registered political party set to contest September 3 General Election.

It joined forces with Jamaica First Movement, launched by prominent clergyman, Al Miller, earlier this month.
