A woman who was shot by police on Sunday has died from her injuries, following an incident that was captured on CCTV footage.

Reports indicate that the woman was among a group of residents protesting the fatal shooting of 17-year-old Tjey Edwards. During the demonstration, she was seated behind the wheel of a Toyota Voxy in the community square when the shooting occurred.

According to preliminary information, police opened fire after the woman reportedly drove the vehicle in the direction of the officer. She was struck in the upper body and later succumbed to her injuries while receiving treatment at the hospital.

The deceased woman has been identified as Latoya Bulgin, also known as “Buju,” from Granville in the community.

In the aftermath of the incident, the police officer involved has been interdicted. The Police High Command, in a statement issued late Sunday, expressed serious concern about the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

The matter has been referred to the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) and the Inspectorate Professional Standards Oversight Bureau (IPROB), both of which have launched full investigations. Authorities confirmed that the decision to interdict the officer was made after an initial review of available evidence, including CCTV footage.
