Woman Injured as Fire Destroys Belize City Home

A Belize City family also escaped a late-night fire on Sunday, but one woman suffered burn injuries.  Police say the wooden house on Barbara Harris Street was completely destroyed. Fifty-five-year-old Therese Young reportedly smelled smoke coming from the living room and alerted her children. After escaping, the family realised that 24-year-old Leonesha Young was missing. She was later found nearby with burns and taken to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital.  The house was not insured and was reportedly connected to electricity illegally. The cause of the fire remains undetermined.
