World Athletics has launched the Relay Around the World Challenge ahead of this year’s Kids’ Athletics Day – an annual celebration of children being active and participating in athletics – which takes place on May 7.
This year’s theme, Relay Around the World Challenge, is inspired by the upcoming World Athletics Relays in China.
The challenge is the biggest, most inclusive Kids’ Athletics participation activity yet – with a target of 500,000 kids participating across the world.
The Challenge was launched in Monaco with Prince Albert handing off the first baton to kick off the global relay.
The relay will continue over the course of the next month building momentum towards Kids’ Athletics Day and culminating with a final relay challenge event at the World Athletics Relays Guangzhou 25.
