Young Belize City Man Shot Multiple Times Outside Home

Belize City police are investigating the attempted murder of a young man who was shot multiple times Thursday night in the Jane Usher Boulevard area.  According to investigators, the incident occurred shortly before eleven o’clock when 22-old Alonzo Myers was entering his yard on Mud Street in Belize City. Police say a male individual fired several shots in Myers’ direction, causing injuries to his upper body. ASP Stacy Smith says investigators processed the scene and recovered several pieces of evidence linked to the shooting.

Stacy Smith, Assistant Superintendent of Police: “Police are investigating a shooting incident that resulted in the injury of 20 year old Alonzo Myers of Belize City. The investigation commenced on Friday 22nd May at around 11pm when officers on patrol in the Jane Usher Boulevard area were alerted to the sounds of shots being fired and upon their inquiry they were advised that an injured Mr.Myers was transported to the hospital for medical attention. What the investigation has so far revealed is that Myers had entered his yard and was accosted by two male persons one of whom fired several shots resulting in his injury. No suspect has been identified nor has a motive been established in this ongoing investigation however police are reviewing a number of video footage to see how they can advance the investigation.”

Police say Scene of Crime personnel recovered multiple expended shell casings, bullet fragments, and a blood swab from the area.
