The youth arm of the governing Jamaica Labour Party, JLP, Young Jamaica, is rejecting statements issued by the People’s National Party’s, PNP, Patriots about senior spokesman Marlon Morgan.

Earlier on Monday, the Patriots, the young professional affiliate of the PNP, issued a statement alleging that Morgan was a current director of executive services to the permanent secretary in the Ministry of Education.

The statement called for the Public Services Commission to clarify Morgan’s employment.

It argued that Morgan’s active political involvement was in conflict with his appointment in the Public Service and the Staff Orders for the Public Service.

But in a swift response, Young Jamaica issued a statement noting that while Mr. Morgan served at the then Ministry of Education & Youth in a civil service capacity, he is no longer in the employ of the ministry.

It says Mr. Morgan was employed in 2018 and demitted office in July 2023.

Young Jamaica says as such, he no longer serves in his civil service capacity as senior technical coordinator at the Ministry of Education where he also temporarily acted as director of executive services.

Young Jamaica says it rejects the attempt by the PNP and its surrogates and affiliate groups to personally target Mr. Morgan.
