$23,000 in Items Stolen in Armed Robbery at Burton Creek Home

A man reported a burglary at his sister’s Burton Creek home after discovering multiple items valued at a sum of twenty-three thousand dollars are missing.  Yesterday, 52-year-old, Ronulfo Casanova, filed a report with the San Ignacio Police, stating that when he returned to his sister’s house on Sunday, he found the gates and doors open. Further inspection on the grounds led him to the property’s caretaker, Elder Segura, and his son in a downstairs room, tied up. Segura claimed that seven men dressed in what appeared to be police uniforms had searched the house and tied them up before fleeing.  The cameras on the property were reportedly down at the time of the incident. A check of the house revealed that entry was gained by prying open a back verandah door. A long list of items was stolen, including air conditioning units, televisions, power tools, a generator, and a PlayStation 2. The property was uninsured. Police are investigating the incident.
