A daring armed robbery unfolded on Friday morning at the Belize Marketing Board compound on San Lorenzo Road in Orange Walk Town, where thieves made off with over forty-four thousand dollars in cash. Reports indicate that around 9:30 a.m., two men of Creole descent arrived on a blue motorcycle and waited at the compound’s entrance. As the security guard, Margarita Perez, opened the gate for a client, one of the assailants, wearing a grey hoodie and a pink mask, rushed inside, held Perez at gunpoint, and forced her to the accounts office. Once inside, the armed man pointed the weapon at Assistant Accountant, 24-year-old Aliyah Lima, and demanded money. Lima reportedly directed him to a desk drawer, from which the gunman retrieved a plastic cash deposit bag labeled “Fort Knox,” containing $44,000 in sales proceeds from the previous day. The culprit then fled the scene with his accomplice waiting on the motorcycle. Police have since processed the scene, reviewed surveillance footage, and identified a person of interest./
