A small amount of cocaine has resulted in a hefty fine for a Belize City man who pleaded guilty to drug trafficking today. 38-year-old Jamal Samuels admitted to trafficking 2 grams of cocaine, which police found parcelled off in six Ziplock bags. Due to the packaging and the quantity, just over 2 grams, Samuels was charged with intent to supply. The Chief Magistrate imposed the mandatory minimum fine of $10,000, but the Saint Martin De Porres resident fine was reduced by one-third for his early guilty plea, bringing the total down to $6,670.
